History

In November, 2000, an entrepreneurial group visited the technological development centers at Silicon Valley and Seattle, in the United States, headed by the President of the Republic, Ricardo Lagos, who was accompanied by 100 important Chilean businessmen and entrepreneurs who had the opportunity to know the main offices of the companies leading the new economy.

Back in the country, a great idea was in the air: Chile should become a Digital Country. It was obvious that the digital revolution would favor those societies with an early adoption of the information technologies.

Thus, a group of important leaders formed by members of the Government, entrepreneurs and universities realized that the need of creating a digital culture in Chile went beyond the companies or a particular Government, and that it was an issue involving all Chileans.

Consequently, with the idea of working together with all the society’ sectors in order to drive the development of technologies in Chile, in November 2001 FUNDACIÓN PAÍS DIGITAL was created.
