MD, surgeon of the School of Medicine of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, he was awarded an improvement scholarship with doctor Myron Winick, in the area of infant growth and development, and nutrition, at the Pediatrics Department of Cornell University Medical College, New York; professor and researcher at the Medicine School of Columbia University, in New York, where he held several academic positions. Current rector of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and professor of the School of Medicine.
Among the positions held, Executive Secretary of the Scientific Research Commission, and director of the Medical Research Center. During his term as a dean, he encouraged several projects such as the school pre-graduate reform, and the financial economic order.
Dr. Rosso has been awarded several acknowledgements during his scientific and academic career, such as the Agnes Higgins award, granted by March of Dimes/Birth Defect Foundation of the United States, as well as those awarded by the American College of Nutrition, and the American Institute of Nutrition. He is a regular member of the Academy of Medicine of the Chilean Institute. He also belongs to around ten scientific societies of his discipline in the United States, Europe and Latin America. Also, he was the President of the Association of Schools of Medicine in Chile, until his appointment as rector of the Catholic University, being re-elected for this position for a second five-year term in 2005. In October, 2005 he was incorporated to the Merit Order of the Italian Republic, as Cavalier.
